Getting Your Car Ready For Spring

Spring is in the air and that means it’s time to get your car ready for the season! Before we know it, the hot Texas weather will be upon us so let’s give our vehicles the much needed check up that they deserve. From vacuuming the carpets to checking your fluids, here are some spring maintenance tips you and your car are sure to love!

Car in Spring

Inflate your Tires

Every tire should be inflated evenly, including the spare tire. If you are not sure of the proper tire pressure, check the sidewall label on your driver’s side door. It is important to inflate your tires correctly to lengthen the life of the tire and increase gas mileage.

Check the fluids

Help improve the reliability and performance of your car by topping off its fluids. Some of the fluids to check on include your engine oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid and washer fluid. Also make sure to keep an eye underneath the car, when parked, for any potential leaks.

Wash the Exterior

Whether you visit your local car wash or decide to hand wash your vehicle, remove the dirt and grime that has collected throughout the winter. Look into different soap options and use a sponge or cloth that does not scratch the surface of your car.

Clean the Interior

Break out the vacuum and window cleaner! As much as washing the outside of your car on a regular basis is important, you must also maintain the cleanliness of the interior of the car. Get your floor mats dirt free and your windows smudge free.

Balance and Rotate your Tires

Our tires deserve the best treatment and care to ensure top performance and the driver’s safety on the roads. Having unbalanced tires will cause uneven pressure and wear on the tread. To avoid this, plan to balance and rotate your tires every 4,000 to 6,000 miles driven.

Replace your Antifreeze

With how hot our Texas weather can reach, it is important to maintain your engine fluids to decrease the chances of overheating. Consider replacing the antifreeze in your car.

Examine belts and hoses

Belts and hoses in our cars can easily go from being in pristine shape to cracking, wearing down and loosening. Take a look under the hood and be on top of knowing warning signs and replacing parts immediately.
